PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT TARRAGONA

GETTING THERE

From Barcelona airport: Take the Plana bus to Tarragona Estación de autobuses. The trip takes about 65 minutes, is usually on time, and currently costs 15.95 euros. You will arrive near the centre of town, just to the back of the Hotel Ciutat de Tarragona.

To find the bus rank, continue straight when you come out of baggage collect, right to the end, go down the escalators on the right (towards the Metro), don't go to the Metro, turn 180 degrees to your right, go outside, look right, and you should see some buses. Yours could be there!

From Reus airport: Reus airport is conveniently just seven kilometres from Tarragona. It receives RyanAir flights and others. Getting from Reus airport to Tarragona is not easy, though. A taxi can cost 33 euros (yes, for seven kilometres!), and there are few buses. See the connection information here.

VENUE

The conference will be held in the Campus Catalunya of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, at Ave Catalunya 35:

ACCOMMODATION

Tarragona is a tourist destination, so hotels are pretty full towards the end of June. You are advised to book as early as possible.

There are many options, and we cannot list them better than booking.com does.

Airbnbs tend to be more expensive than hotels, unless you are three or four in a group.

The hotels closest to our university campus are:

Hotel Cosmos: Clean, basic, cheap.

Hotel SB Ciutat de Tarragona: Not so cheap, but good value.

Hotel SB Express Tarragona: A little cheaper and a little further away, heading away from the town centre.

Alexandra Aparthotel: Reasonably priced and nearer the centre of town (but everything is within walking distance)

There are many other hotels and pensions. If you got one on Plaça de la Font (the city's main square), you might want to ask for a room that is not facing the square. People in Tarragona tend to party all night long.

THINGS TO DO IN TARRAGONA

Basic tourist information can be found here, and many other places as well.

On Saturday afternoon, we might head to the Arrabassada beach, as some of us did at our conference last October:
